My Favourite Food

There is a traditional food that I like it very much. It comes from Palembang, South Sumatera and it is “Pempek”. Do you know “Pempek”? Do you ever taste it? Do you ever see it? If you haven’t known, this is a little concerning aboaut “Pempek”. It is made of fillet “Tenggiri” fish. We eat with sauce or “cuko” (the original people names it). Would you like to try cooking “Pempek Palembang”? If yes, I’ ll give the receipt with pleasure. Here it is:

  • 1 kg of fillet of “Tenggiri” fish
  • 7 spoons full of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vetsin (if you like)
  • 800 ml of water
  • 1 kg of “Tapioka” flour

And these following steps:
  1. Put fillet, salt, vetsin, water into blender. Mix them.
  2. If they are already mixed well, pour “Tapioka “ flour step by step. Then scale 200/ each in order the weight is the same among others. Next forming just like tube or “tabung”.
  3. Boil the water in a pan, put “Pempek” in the boiling water
  4. Wait until float. After that drain it.
  5. Finally, you cut “Pempek” becomes 2 cm long and fry it until yellowish colour. And put into a nice plate.

Sauce or “Cuko”
  • “asam Jawa” 2 cm long
  • 1 teaspoon of vetsin (if you like)
  • 1 teaspoons of salt
  • garlic 2 piees
  • chili 7 pieces
  • “gula merah” 250 gr
  • 500 ml of water

How to make: Mixing all of ingredients above. Then cook until boil. Finally drain them. And put into a nice bowl.

Ok everybody, that is all. Keep practising and wish you luck. Sincerely…
